Privacy policy
Last updated: 6 October 2026
Edel Notetaker was built so that your meetings stay on your computer. This policy explains, in plain words, what data the app and this website handle, where it goes, and your rights.
1. Who we are
Edel Notetaker and edelnote.com are provided by EDEL Group (EDELGRP), Switzerland ("we"). Contact: [email protected]. We apply the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and, where it applies, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
2. The app: your meetings stay on your computer
- Recordings, transcripts and summaries are created and stored on your computer, in the folder you choose. We never receive them. Edel Notetaker has no account and no cloud storage.
- Transcription (speech to text) always runs on your computer.
- Summaries are made on your computer by default (open-source AI). If you choose "BYO key", only the written transcript is sent directly from your computer to the AI provider you picked (for example Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, Mistral AI, DeepSeek, Alibaba Cloud or Z.ai), under your own account and that provider's terms. The audio is never sent. We are not involved in that transfer.
- Your sign-ins and keys (calendar, Zoho Recruit, AI keys, licence key) are kept in your computer's Windows Credential Manager and are only ever sent to the service they belong to.
3. Optional connections
- Calendar (Microsoft 365, Google Calendar). If you connect your calendar, the app reads your upcoming meetings (title, time, attendees) directly from Microsoft or Google onto your computer, read-only, to name and start recordings. We never receive your calendar data and the app never changes your calendar.
- Zoho Recruit. If you connect it, the summary and transcript of a meeting are sent from your computer to your own Zoho account, using your company's own Zoho API credentials. Never the audio.
Edel Notetaker's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Calendar data is used only to show and name your meetings in the app, is never sold, never used for advertising and never used to train AI models.
4. What leaves your computer, and when
- Model downloads: on first use, the app downloads its speech and summary models from Hugging Face. As with any download, Hugging Face sees your IP address.
- Updates: the app checks edelnote.com for a new version at start and every 6 hours. The request contains your IP address and the app version, and is not stored by us.
- Licence: when you activate or re-check a licence, your licence key and your computer's name are sent to Lemon Squeezy, our payment and licensing provider, to confirm the licence is valid.
5. Buying a licence
Purchases are handled by Lemon Squeezy (Lemon Squeezy LLC), which acts as the merchant of record: it processes your payment, collects VAT and sends your licence key. Lemon Squeezy receives your name, email address, billing country and payment details under its own privacy policy. We receive your name, email, country and order details to provide support and refunds. We never see your full card details.
6. This website
- No cookies and no third-party trackers. We count visits anonymously on our own server: the page viewed, where you came from, time on page, how far you scrolled, which buttons were clicked, your country, device type, browser and operating system.
- No IP addresses are stored. A visitor is identified by a one-way code made from the day, your IP address and your browser, which changes every day. We can't follow you from one day to the next, and can't identify you.
- If your browser sends "Do Not Track" or "Global Privacy Control", page visits aren't counted.
- The website is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes technical connection data (such as IP addresses) to deliver and protect the site.
- Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when the page loads.
7. Email
If you write to us ([email protected]), we use your message and email address only to reply, and keep them as long as needed for that conversation and any legal obligation.
8. How long we keep data
Anonymous visit statistics: up to 24 months. Purchase records: as long as required by Swiss accounting law (10 years). Support emails: as long as needed to help you. Everything in the app stays on your computer until you delete it.
9. Your rights
You can ask us what data we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, object to its use, or receive a copy, by writing to [email protected]. You can also complain to the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC) or, in the EU, to your local data protection authority.
10. Changes
If this policy changes, we update this page and the date at the top. Important changes are announced in the app.
